About Jessica

I have over a decade of experience working with students in classrooms and as a tutor both in-person and online. I earned my degree in Elementary Education from Whitworth University. I spent a year working in a therapeutic special education classroom and value an affirming and relationship-based approach.

I encourage my students to ask questions, take responsibility for their learning, and discover their own unique potential. I love seeing my students gain confidence and excitement as they realize how much they are capable of doing. I would be delighted to partner with you to help your student succeed!

When I'm not teaching, you can find me taking care of my many houseplants, attending a local trivia night, or catching up on the latest episodes of my favorite TV show.

I'm looking forward to working with you,

Jessica Coffin

Happy Parents, Happy Kids

Here is what students and parents say about me:

Karina S.

Jessica has saved us!!! My son has dyslexia and he no longer dreads reading. My daughter could not get to her math assignments without complete battles and frustration with mom trying to teach her! Jessica is disciplined, kind, and sooooo child centric that the kids respond to her even after a long day. She is amazing and will be with our family for a long time. Now going on years working with Jessica. As busy parents, we could not do it without her.

Christine S.

Jessica has worked with my now 6th grader twice a week over the last 4 years. She's amazing and has helped him with reading, writing, and math so much! He made incredible progress over a relatively short amount of time thanks to Jessica's efforts. She's knowledgeable, patient, kind, prepared, and punctual. She has a million tricks up her sleeve for motivating kids. She also understands how to work with diverse kids like mine who struggle with attention. He has lots of avoidance strategies for things that are hard, and she handles these behaviors in stride with calmness and grace, and she's somehow always able to guide the focus back to learning. I can't recommend her enough.

Jack, Age 12

When I started tutoring I felt like my learning ability went up big time!

Anne S.

Jessica is a truly remarkable tutor. When our oldest daughter began struggling in math in fourth grade, we began working with Jessica intensively (two sessions per week). After a year, our daughter not only caught up, she tested into accelerated math. Most importantly, her confidence in herself and her ability to take on challenging work was restored.

Maddie, age 13

Jessica made math so much easier to understand and is just a really great teacher.

Sara L.

Jessica is friendly, caring, and skilled. We have worked with her for over 7 years. Our nephew can have challenging days and Jessica is skilled at being able to bring him back around to learning, even when he seems like he’s not interested in participating that day.

Amy L.

We love having Jessica as our daughter’s math tutor and our daughter loves having a female role model to look to when overcoming new learning challenges and content. As we were writing this review, both my daughter and I wanted to focus on how fond we are of Jessica’s warmth and patience and how quickly she put my daughter at ease. What I really want to highlight is what a smart, skilled, organized, capable, and competent teacher Jessica is. She is, and continues to be, an invaluable component to our daughter’s love and enjoyment of learning math.

Jolie, age 10

Jessica is willing to help me with anything no matter what and is super nice. I like her because she makes anything you’re learning fun.

Julie A.

Jessica has been an amazing tutor for our son! I am so happy we found her during the pandemic to help our son progress in school. His reading was struggling and we saw it soar after a few months of working with Jessica. Our son continues to work with her to help him grow in school. Jessica has been the best addition to our family!!
